Dedication  FREEDOM - stated in simple and concise words, it is the ability to choose. However, it is an abstraction, defined most appropriately by the action and thoughts of men Most Americans give it only a passing thought, but to the men of the Armed Forces it is our end all and be all. When visiting foreign ports we see it, or more appropriately, the lack of it. And when we are at sea for weeks on end, we know it, for it is the purpose of our task.
it is to the concept of freedom, however defined, that we dedicate this book.
