News

Welcome to the news page. This page contains information on current and upcoming events involving public safety in Trent Woods.

Vehicle Break-ins

This week we have taken several reports of unlocked vehicles being entered and property stolen. This activity occurred on Dorset Way in the Bellefern area and on Red Fox Road in the Fox Hollow community. In all cases, the vehicles were left unattended and unlocked while parked in the victim's driveways. There has been loose change, an Ipod and a debit card stolen thus far. We encourage folks to remove all money and valuables from their vehicles and keep their doors locked. Call the Trent Woods Police Department and report any unusual or suspicious activity that you may see or hear. This activity is occurring especially in the nighttime hours. Report anyone you see out walking late at night so we can identify any possible suspects or persons that may be involved. If you find that you are a victim, file a police report as soon as possible so we will be aware of specific areas where these crimes are occurring. Also, make sure you are keeping your garage doors and house doors locked. The Trent Woods Police Department telephone number is (252) 637-3030.

Identity Theft

Identity theft is a very serious crime that not only destroys a victims credit, it leaves the victim emotional devastated. Sometimes it takes years to get over the effects of this crime and repair the damage that has been done. This crime occurs when someone uses a person's personal information, (social security number, date of birth, bank card numbers, credit card and atm card information etc.), to open credit accounts. The perpetrators then purchase items such as cars, jewelry, and electronics and in some instances "HOUSES".

For more information on how to prevent this crime and what to do if you become a victim stop by the Trent Woods Police Department or go to the Federal Trade Commission's web site by clicking here.

Town Parking Ordinance

The Trent Woods Board of Commissioners recently passed a new Town parking Ordinance. This ordinance was passed to protect our citizens from accidents involving vehicles being left unattended on the paved portion of our streets. Unfortunately the state law, which addresses this type of problem, does not apply inside municipal corporate limits of a city or town. This ordinance does not prevent a vehicle from being parked on the street right of way unless the area has been marked as a no parking zone. There are currently no "No Parking Zones" designated in the town limits. If you have any questions about this ordinance please do not hesitate to call the police department at (252) 637-3030.
